A movie about grief, about pain, about loss. It is such an emotional journey to watch this movie because it so honst and heartbreaking. With every minutes you suck into this story and his characters, especially the main character Lee Chandler.
It's a story about a familie, I would say. Two brothers, the wife of one of the brothers, and the child of the other brother. One brother, Joe Chandler has a terminally heart disease and dies because of his condition. His brother, Lee Chandler is meant to take the costidity for Joe's sons Patrick. For many reasons, Lee can't do this and during the movies is getting more more clear why he can't do it.
I didn't watched a movie that touched me like this for a really long time. The acting was brilliant, especially Casey Affleck was phenomenal, but also my all-time favourite Michelle Williams was charming, moving and brilliant. The story is perfectly told. It's not linear. The story is interrupted from flashbacks of Lee Chandlers life. This makes this movie so easy to watch. It was over so quickly because it takes you in and you just have to sink into the world of Manchester by the sea.
I was really happy when Kenneth Lonergan and Casey Affleck won an Oscars for their work on this movie. It was well deserved. Definitely my favourite movie of the Oscars season. You really have to watch this if you like good drama, good storytelling and good acting.
