My thoughts on the 89th Academy Awards

It was Oscar night! For me that meant: being awake until 6am and enjoying every second of it. I really love the Oscar night and everything happening around it. I really love movies, I love happy people getting awards and I love the entertainment and comedy in the show. I'm going to write about some parts of the show I think are worth mentioning

As always, I wasn't right all the time. I tought La La Land would win everything even If I wouldn't want that to happen. I was right in 11 out of 19 catogories I did a predictions on. It's okay I guess. I was really happy when "Manchester by the sea" won best screenplay and that Hacksaw Ridge won two Oscars. I also was so glad that La La Land didn't won everything. I didn't think it's a masterpiece because of the story. I loved the look of the movie and the music, but the story was almost boring and predictable. But they deserved the awards they won. It's a shame that Suicide Squat is now a Oscar awarded movie, even if it's just for Makeup. It's a shame.

I was really happy for Mahershala Ali (Moonlight) and Casey Affleck (Manchester by the Sea) to win Best supporting Actor and Best Leading Actor. I know everybody is bashing Casey Affleck. And if the storys about the sexual harrasment are true then he is an asshole. But: it is not proven. I do not judge people on empty accusation. Facts are so important. Just read about Julian Assange. Or many people who were under sentence of death - but didn't do anything. It is so important to think about the law and about the facts and not judge too quickly. Maybe he is quilty, maybe he is not. But I am not going to judge him today because there is no prove. It was sad that almost nobody stand up for him and that Brie Larson would more likely to puke on stage. But yeah, If he is innocent I am lucky for him because his performance was brilliant and breath-taking.

And I don't think Denzel Washington was better and Fences was the weakest movie in the Best Picture categorie. Although Viola Davis was great in Fences. I really didn't like her speech tough. I though it was really mean in a way because she said "We are the only profession that celebrates what it means to live a life!". Well, and what's with ALL the other people in the world? We are just ordinary people with shitty lifes not worth living? I was really offended. But yeah, I don't know how she meant it. It just didn't felt right.

The scancal around the Best Picture categorie was really sad. I felt so sorry for the whole La La Land crew. It must have been so indescribable hurtful to think you won the Oscar, but then you've been said that you lost. I though Moonlight would win and I am really happy that they won in the end. It was just a sad moment for both of them. But the crew of La La Land handled it in the must respectful way.

Jimmy Kimmel was a great host with a perfect mix of political views, critizism and comedy. Everything with Matt Damon was amazing, the flying candy was really cute. His jokes were great. I really enjoying the Oscars. Much better than last years. He did a great job.

Can't wait for next year.

Vegan & Gluten-Free Banana Bread

I love this bread! It's full of healthy fats and protein and low carb. It's gluten-free, refinded sugarfree and vegan. It's also really easy to make and you can use all these ingredients for many other recipes like pancakes, waffles, cakes. So you don't have to buy ingredients you only need once. You find recipes on my blog with these ingredients if you need some inspration. I hope you like the recipe. I really really love it :)

  • (approximately 250-275g) two big mashed very ripe banana
  • 50g of grounded almonds
  • 60ml of nut milk (non-dairy milk)
  • 100g of coconut flour
  • 50g coconut flakes
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons of coconut oil (melted)
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon of maple syrup
  • (optional) 50g of gluten-free oats
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • (optional) 1/2 teaspoon of ginger
  • some coconut oil for your loaf pan

  1. Preheat your oven to 175 degree Celsius in a circulating air oven or 195 degree Celsius in a two-sided heat oven.
  2. You need a 9x5-inch loaf pan. Use some coconut oil to grease it. 
  3. Mash a banana in a large bowl.
  4. Add all the dry ingredients: almonds, coconut flour, coconut flakes, baking powder, cinnamon and ginger. Ginger is optional if you like the taste of it.
  5. You can also add 50g of gluten-free oats for a more solid textures.
  6. Now add the fluid ingredients like milk, the melted coconut oil and maple syrup.
  7. Stir everything until you have a nice dough. There shouldn't be any kind of flour, baking powder, cinnaman and so on. The coconut flakes and the oats don't have to be mixed into small pieces.  Just stir it, don't mix it and don't use a blender.
  8. Put your dough into the loaf pan and let it bake for 45-55 minutes. Important: just keep an eye on your banana bread evey 10 minutes :) Use a small needle or a fork to check if the dough isn't fluid anymore.
  9. You can put some healthy 99% dark chocolate on top on it or sprinkle some coconut sugar on top of the hot banana bread.

Healthy (Terry's) Chocolate Orange Porridge

I really love the Terry's Orange Chocolate. So I wanted to make a Porridge that tastes like it, but the more healthy version. This recipes doesn't contain a lot of sugar, it's really healthy and tastes really chocolaty with a hint of orange. It doesn't taste the same but it tastes similar and just so good. Hope you like the recipe :)

  • 50g of oats
  • 200ml of soymilk, almond milk or any other kind of milk
  • 100ml of water
  • 20g of cocao powder
  • 3 pieces of Terry's Dark Orange Chocolate
  • some orange seasoning (without added sugar)
  • some natural orange flavour

Take a pan and add the 50g of oats, 200ml of soymilk (or any other kind of unflavoured milk) and 100ml of water. Also add 20g of raw cocoa poweder, as much orange seasoning as you want and about a half of a teaspoon of orange flavour (you can add more if you want but don't go overboard) and stir all of it.

Now put your stove on middle to high heat. If the oats are boiling, lower the heat. It should be boiling. Make sure you stir your oats a lot. You don't want them to burn. It takes about 10-15 minutes. I like my porrdige really sticky and not so fluid, so I cook it for 15-20 minutes.

After your porridge is ready, you can put it into a nice bowl and place some pieces of the dark orange chocolate by Terry's on top. You're going to have an amazing morning with this breakfast :)

First Marathon: How to survive

I ran my first marathon last October in Cologne. I finished after 4 hours, 37 minutes and 22 seconds. I was really proud of myself because it was my first marathon and I my longest run before this was 24km, about 15 miles. This wasn' actually my plan. I had plan how long and how much I wanted to run, but I lost some training weeks because of a stem cell donation, a tonsillitis, a bent ankle and a heat wave in Germany. This is why I didn't really had a goal in mind. I wanted to run under 5 hours. I could possible hit 4:30 hours but I wanted to enjoy the race - and this is the most impotant tip for your first marathon: enjoy the expierence. You probably worked your ass of for that day, you paid a lot of money and you possible had a million nervous breakdowns. I hope I am not the only one panicking about the marathon. I just want to give you some tips for surviving your first marathon with a smile on your face.

Take your time and ask yourself: what are your fitness level?
How long and how much you need to train before the marathon is really different. It depends on your fitness level - are you overweight? Are you underweight? Did you workout before? Haven't you worked out in a long time? All of this is important. If you are at a normal weight, working out 3-4 times a week and are a healthy person, but never run before, I would train for about 4-6 month in advance. Your muscles need to get used to running and it's important to slowly increase the miles. Start with 2-3 miles, and every weeks add 2-3 miles. After you done that try to run for 3-4 times every week. Two shorter runs about 4 to 5 miles, one longer run about 8 to 10 miles and one really long run. Start with a 12-13 miles long run and increase your long runs slowly, maybe every two weeks. They shouldn't be longer than 17-18 miles. Your longest run should be 20 miles three to four weeks before your marathon. It is an amazing practice for the big day. Eat the same food you are going to eat on the big day, wear the same clothes, wake up at the same time.
If you are really unfit and maybe overweigh: take your time. You don't want to hurt yourself or go to hell during the marathon. You should start 10 to 12 month in advance and increase you miles really really slowly. It is more important that you run the miles and it's less important to work on your speed. Focus on making the long runs and not being super fast. You can work on your speed when training for your second marathon ;)

Don't stress, run at a pace you feel good but it's also not to slow.
I had one goal for my first marathon: I wanted to enjoy the whole expierence. I knew that my times wouldn't be that great. So I just ran. I kept an eye on my heart rate, run faster if I thought I was  to slow and slowed down if I felt a little but exhausted. I wasn't really exhausted during or after the race because my pace was perfect for me. Yes, it really hurts after 20 miles, but the pain is normal. I just didn't stressed myself. I smiled, I looked around and I stayed in the moment. I didn't count down the miles. I just ran. I knew that I would wanted to walk, I was going to make it - I knew it. Believe in yourself and be relaxed. It is your first marathon and you can be so proud of yourself.

Fuel your body and eat good food.
It is really important to think about your nutrition. You can't eat what you want just because you are running a lot. It would be really sad if you're gaining weight while training for a marathon. You are going to be more hungry, of course. But fuel your body with good foods: a lot of vegetables, healthy carbs before your long runs and protein after your runs. Controll your portions sizes, don't make them to big. You can have a healthy snack if you're getting hungry after 2-3 hours. You should never be hungry, your body needs nutrition because it has a lot of work to do. One weeks before the marathon you should start your carbloading, but that doesn't mean three bowls of pasta everyday. Have normal meals during your day and normal portions sizes. Just have some more healthy carbs and reduce your fat and protein intake, but you should continue to eat healthy fats and protein. I always had whole-grain pasta with a lot of vegetables and selfmade tomato sauce as dinner. It was really good. I had oatmeal or muesli for breakfast, coconut sugar and coconut syrup, nutbutter.
One the day before the marathon it is time for the: PASTA PARTY! Yes, you will find a lot of them before the marathon. But it is really important that you don't binch on pasta. You're going to feel so full and tired afterwards, maybe it affects your sleep because your so full. I had a normal portion of pasta and some bread. It was enough. Your body can only store a certain amount of carbs. It is not necessary to 500g of pasta.

Have a training plan.
Write done your plan and find three to four day to run every week. Your goal should be to at least run 42.195km / 26.2 miles every week. It's much better to run even more kilometres every week but it's really time consuming so not everybody is able to. Try to run at list 26 miles every week in 3-4 runs. And: your runs should be appointments. Do not skip them - motivate yourself, stand up early and start!

Feel comfortable in your clothes and run in good shoes.
You run in an outfit you love. It's better if you already ran in an outfit. You then know if it's comfortable and practical. You don't want to stress about your outfit on your big day. It's also really important to have good shoes. Go to a running shop (like Runnerspoint) and ask them which shoes will be best for you. It is also important to not run in new shows. It's going to hurt really bad. You should already ran 1-2 month in your shoes, about 200 kilometres. You foot is going to get used to the shoe and it's not going to hurt your heel.

I hope my tips helped you a little bit. I am starting my marathon training this week. It's a 16-week training plan and I'm doing the plan two times, but I am going to increase the speed in the second 16-weeks of training. I am really excited. London in December

After I visited London last year, I couldn't wait to come back to this beautiful city. My sister wanted to visit a friend in Southhampton. So we planed to stay in London for three days and then go to Southhamptop. As always our flight took off really early. My alarm woke me up at 4am. I can deal with this, but my sister isn't a morning person. It was much harder for her. Luckily we only had to drive for about 30 minutes to the airport. We checked in and had breakfast and a coffee. This was so good. We waited until the boarding has started. Our flight took of at 7am and we were in London at 7:20am (time shift!).

We took the Stansted express to London. It was really relaxed and much easier than my bus ride last time. Never take a bus from the airport. It tooked so long and it was much more stressing. We arrived in London and took the tube to our hotel and left our back there. Our first day in London was about to start!

Our first day in London was so amazing! We just walked through Soho, Westminster, Picadilly Circus, Carnaby street and I fell in love with London again. We ate cookies at Ben's Cookies. I had a Orange Chocolate Cookie. The best cookie I ever ate! It's like Terry's Orange Chocolate, but in really soft cookie, it was so good. We also went to Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park because my sister really wanted to see it. It's like a german carnival and christmas market combined. It's really funny as a german to see this in England :D We saw a lot of squirrels and one touch my hand. It was so cute.

In the evening we ate at Wagamama for the first time. I was so excited because I heard so many good things about it. I had a vegetarian ramen bowl and it was really good, but we have a ramen store in Germany and they sell the best ramens ;) After we ate at Wagamama we saw "The Book of Mormon" at Westend. It was the best musical I ever seen! So funny, such good voices. I didn't expected it to be this good. But hey, it won a lot of Tonys, so yeah, maybe this would be a little hint. You habe to see "The Book Of Mormon" if you're going to be in London. It's just brilliant!

Our second day was full of amazing plans! First we went to the original location where they film Sherlock! It was so cool. We ate ate Speedy's. It's the café where Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman ate in the first episode. It was so cool. The people there were so nice, the food was really cheap for London and it tasted really good. I had a mushroom omelette and my sistr had the Sherlock breakfast. Afterwards we went to King's Cross because we wanted to take a photo at Platform 9¾. We waited for 30-45 minutes. I don't remember. It kinda makes me proud to see all these Harry Potter fans but I really hate waiting. I chose the Gryffindor scarf, of course, and the photos were so good. I am so happy. It's such a nice memory.

We took the tube to Covent Garden because my sister never been there. We visited the Moomin shop and had a nice Tea Time at Whittard's. I had a carrot cake - it was so good - and a mint tea. My sister had scones and a English Breakfast Tea. It's always so crowded at Covent Garden, especially at christmas time. But I really like the store there. We then went to Harrods. I just love the Harrods, all the nice food, the decorations. It's so amazing! It is really expensive but there are areas with cheaper products.

In the evening we went to Jamie's Italian. I really love this restaurant and I am so happy that it's coming to Germany in summer. My sister had a nice starter with a lot of antipasti like olives, peperoni and cheese. I don't had a started but a really nice main. I had a super food salad with broccoli, quinoa - it was so good. My sister had spicy pasta. As dessert I had Tiramisù pavlova. Unfortunately I didn't read the description. I tought it would be a tiramisu, but it wasn't. It was a "Coffee-rippled meringue topped with dark chocolate ice cream, smashed hazelnuts & hot chocolate sauce". I was disappointed but hey, it's ok. My sister had a vanilla yoghurt panna cotta with black cherry compote, spiced oaty crumble & orange zest. She loved it :) Afterwards we just walked through London and it's so pretty in the dark because of all the christmas lights. I wish I would have a lot of money to be able to live there. I just love it so so much.

At our third day in London we meet with a friend of  my siter and had a nice breakfast together. We also walked through the Spitalfields Market with a lot of shops. It was so nice. So many small shops and food places. We then went to Lady Dinah's Cat Emporium. I went there last year and fell in love with it. We had a High Tea. I wrote a blog post about my expierince this year - just click here if you want to read it :)

Afterwards we went back to the hotel, took our bags and took the train to Southhampton. A friend of my sister lives there. We had three amazing days in Southhampton. On the first night we ate at the Gourmet Burger Kitchen. Unfortunately I still was so full from Lady Dinah that I wasn't able to finish my burger nor my fries, what a shame. On the second day we drove to Oxford. It's a really nice city but it rained so hard that it wasn't so much fun. That was really sad because it really is a pretty city. Back in Southhampton we had a quick dinner at Wagamama and went to see "Fantastic beasts and where to find them". It's such a good movie! I love the main charater so much because he values animals as much as I do. Loved it :) On our last day we just walked through the city he lives in and had a nice little lunch at Pret A Manger. If you're in England you have to go to Pret ;) Our flight wasn't that late so we took the train at 3pm and just had a coffee at the really small airport in Southhampton.

It was an amazing trip and I hope I can visit London this year again. I still need to the Harry Potter Tour ;) We'll see ;)

Streetwear Clothing Haul

If I had to describe my personal style I'm not sure If I would be able to, it's really mixed. I like really chic clothing like blouses or nice skirts and dresses. But I also love streetwear by brands like Carharrt, Mazine, Cheap Monday or Nike. I think it's amazing to have different styles. I love to dressy in sporty, chic, with band shirts, high waist jeans, nice coats, sneaker but also high heals and boots. I just like nice clothes and combine nice clothes.

This time I discovered an amazing online shop for streetwear and band shirts. It's called Impericon. They have amazing clothes for good prizes and ship world wide! I bought some nice jeans, some shirts for spring and summer time, but also a nice light hoodie from nike and jacketperfect for spring and autumn. Green Day Concert

My last Green Day concert was in 2009, also in Cologne. It was time. I visited this concert with my two sisters. We also went to the concert in 2009 together. I kinda new that this concert just going to be jumping, singing and having fun. The concert in 2009 will always be the best. I was front row at the end of the "runway". Billie Joe Armstrong was in front of me, I touched (yes this sounds so weird, but it was amazing) and Mike Dirnt took my hand. It just was the best moment of my life.

I knew that this wasn't going to happen. We only queded at 5pm because my sister had to work til 4:30pm. We waited for 5 minutes until they started letting people in. We had an amazing. Really close to the stage on the right side. My sister don't like crowds sooo much so we didn't went in the middle. We waited 2 hours for the pre-band,The Interrupters. They were ok, but I didn't really liked there style of music. The bad was really nice and sweet.

After another 30-45m of waiting. Green Day entered the stage and it was my amazing! The setlist was great. It's so obviously that they still love what they do, they love their fans! 2 people sang with Green Day on stage and one boy played guitar and Billie gave it to him as a gift. It was so sweet. I jumped the whole time, singing so loud and so much! I love the political side of Green Day. They were talking about the shit that's going on in the world and that music can change the world. And that's true. Green Day shaped my character. Because of them I became this little rebel with really high standards, tolerance and the feeling that it's okay to be different. I wanna be the minority ;)

After two and a half hours of jumping and singing: I burned 1400 calories according to my Garmin, I drank half a little of coce light in a few seconds and I was in a dream for a long time afterwards. I saw my favourite band live, my heroes. I am never going to forget this. Thank you Green Day for changing my life everyday and helping my forget my troubles for these 2 1/2 hours :)

High Tea at Lady Dinah's Cat Empiroum

I never had a High Tea before. But the tought of getting a lot of food with as much tea and coffee as you want is really great :D So my sister and I booked the High Tea at the Lady Dinah's Cat Empiriom - a Cat Café in Bethnal Green, London. I visited this Cat Café last year and fell in love with this place. I had to come back. We ordered the vegetarian high tea and the étagère was full of yummy food! On the first plate we had more savoury food. Sandwiches, cheese sticks, hoummous. It was so delicous. On the second plate we had scones with clotted cream and jam. It was so good! I never had scones and clotted cream before and I fell in love. It tastes so good. Why don't we have this in Germany! The last plate was my dream plate: sweet stuff. A red velvet cupcake, two brownies, some spanish pastries (my sister recognizes them) and another piece of cake I don't remember. The food was amazing. We also had coffee, tea and a dark hot chocolate on a lovely wooden plate. I really loved all of this :)

I already knew that the staff and the cats are amazing! You can read about this in my previous post about the Cat Café. But this time the cats were awake! Last time they slept and I don't wake up sleepling cats. I petted so many cats and the staff told so many stories about the cats. It was such a lovely experience! If you find yourself in London: book a table in advance and enjoy a lovely day at Lady Dinah's :)

Breakfast at Bill's

 I always wanted to go to Bill's but I didn't hat time the year before. I was so happy the moment I saw a Bill's in a little street in London. My sister and I hadn't eaten for 6 hours after our flight, going to our hotel and walking through London for a long time. So we were literally starving! Bill's serves Breakfast until 12am. We were there at 11a.m.

We were seated really fast and I ordered a amazing cappucino and my sister had an english breakfast te. I really liked the atmosphere in Bill's. Really chill and not that crowed. I ordered "BILL’S VEGETARIAN BREAKFAST." which was poached free range eggs, tomatoes, hummus on brown toast, mushrooms, guacamole on brown toast, a sweet chilli sauce and basil. One of the best guacamoles I ever had! It was so delicious! It was a lot of food but I only had a cookie for lunch and wagamama ramen for dinner that day :)

My sister ordered a regular "AVOCADO ON TOAST". So it just was avocado with fresh lime on brown toast with seeds, chilli and poached eggs. It looked so great and we both really loved it. Can't wait to comeback and maybe order the pancakes or going there for Lunch :)

Glutenfree Protein Waffles + Apples in Honey Cinnamon Sauce

My favourite meal of the day is breakfast. This is why I always try new recipes. This time I made protein waffles out of buckwheat flour with apples cooked in honey, water and cinnamon. It's healthy and without refined sugar. I really love this :)

You will need:
  • 10g of unflavoured protein powder
  • 50g of buckwheat flour
  • 100ml of soy milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • some coconut oil for the waffle maker
  • 1 apple
  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  • 2 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 100ml of water
  • optional: 2 pieces of dark chocolate (80% or higher)

  1. Take a bowl and put the protein powder, the flour, the soy milk, the egg and the baking powder into the bowl. Mix it all together.
  2. Slice a apple into small pieces and put them into a pan. Add 100ml of water, 1 tablespoon of honey and cinnamon. Cook it on high heat for about 2-3 minutes. The water should cook into the apple a little bit and the apple should be softer. Put it on lower heat for 5-8 minutes. You need to have some sauce left. It shouldn't be gone totally.
  3. For the waffles: Just take a waffle maker, put your waffle mix into it and wait for about 4-5 minutes.
  4. Put the honey-cinnamon apple on the waffles and also add two pieces of chocolate.
